While pure copper is designed to naturally develop a beautiful, unique patina over time and with use, we know many of you love the dazzling, mirror-like shine of a newly polished piece. If you want to maintain that "like new" polished look, you can easily restore your copper's luster right at home using this simple method.
The Lunazul Gallery Polishing Method
For all of our polished copper products, we typically use the readily available and highly effective Bar Keeper's Friend powder cleanser and polish. Here is the simple, four-step process to keep your copper shining:
- Prep the Product: Lightly dampen the surface of your copper item.
- Apply and Polish: Sprinkle a small amount of Bar Keeper's Friend powder onto a damp sponge or cloth. Gently rub the product's surface, applying light pressure to clean and polish away any tarnish.
- Rinse Thoroughly: This step is crucial! Rinse and dry really well after polishing to ensure all residual cleaning product is completely removed.
- Dry Immediately: To prevent any water stains or spots, dry the product thoroughly and immediately. Any leftover residual moisture can cause water spots if not dried well.
Important Care Notes
To ensure your Lunazul Gallery copper products remain beautiful and undamaged, please observe the following guidelines:
- Patina Items: This polishing method is only for our polished copper items. If you own one of our copper products that has a beautiful patina color when purchased, please do not use this polish, as it will strip the intentional coloring.
- Silver-Lined Interiors: We do not recommend using any copper polish on the inside of our copper items that have a silver-lined interior.
