Wood Block Print on Handmade Paper by Taller Leñateros, Chiapas, MEX
This woodblock print is handmade by Taller Leñateros (The Woodlanders’ Workshop) from Chiapas, Mexico. The paper is handmade from natural fibers including banana, tillandsia, yucca, cocoa hulls, palm and even recycled cardboard; which is collected by locals and brought to the workshop. The handmade paper is created utilizing ancient Mayan techniques and the prints reflect their Mayan ancestry. The Leñateros grind up the leaves, petals and bark using a vintage pedal-powered device built from an old bicycle. Each piece is handmade and unique. Approximately: 19” x 14” (l x h)
