Beautiful Mata Ortiz pot by Alfredo Rodriguez from Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, Mexico. This ceramic olla is handmade with ancient traditions from the village of Mata Ortiz in Chihuahua, Mexico. Very collectible and unique. The clay is mined from the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range, painted with handmade paints from natural pigments, and hand-coiled.
This beautiful pot has a depiction of ranch life at a Southwest roping competition. Cowboys with their horses, which represents their everyday ranch life in Chihuahua. Some of the Mata Ortiz potters still do ranch work to support their families. This olla will be perfect for anyone's pottery collection. Includes handmade pottery ring.
